Qualifications and Experience

I hold the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Neuroscience and Master of Science in Forensic Science. I have been a forensic scientist since 2007. I am employed by WYP Forensics and specialise in the examination of drugs and related investigations.

The item listed on this statement was received at WYP Forensics from West Yorkshire Police.


Examination and Results

DF1 - a sealed tamper bag, numbered P112385785, which held one white plastic container with the label RAPIDO XXS. This white container contained 38 unmarked yellow capsules. No controlled drugs were detected in these capsules, which were consistent with containing dinitrophenol (a dieting aid).

After the examination I signed the label and sealed the item.


Legal Status

Dinitrophenol is not controlled under the provisions of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (as amended).


Disclosure

In undertaking the work in this case I was not assisted by other members of the laboratory staff. The work associated with this case has been carried out using established procedures and a full record of the work done in this case is available for inspection at the laboratory.
